In a new interview that will air on Access Hollywood tonight, Thursday, TV show host Howie Mandel relives his Monday health scare.
While in Toronto filming his new show, Howie had a random check-up for insurance purposes. An EKG showed that Mandel had an irregular heartbeat and the doctor said that the problem could be corrected to get the heart back to a regular rhythm.
The procedure was scheduled for Monday. Howie was advised not to eat before the procedure and once it was done, he headed back to hotel.
On the hotel elevator he started to feel dizzy. “I got dizzy at the elevator and I must have passed out because I woke up in a gurney in an ambulance on the way back to the hospital,” he tells Access. “They (doctors) said my heart is strong and I did not have an attack.”
The funny man was kept overnight for observation at the hospital and released the next day.
When asked if he was scared, Howie replied:
“I was terrified because I try to stay healthy, I work out, I eat well and to be in a public lobby of a hotel and start to feel dizzy and then have no memory after that and to wake up in an ambulance is terrifying.”
We’re glad you’re a-OK now, Howie.
