So many tragic tales coming from the Mid-Atlantic seaboard this week!!
Hurricane Sandy sunk the HMS Bounty off the coast of North Carolina on Monday, killing at least one and stranding fourteen, and leaving one treading water somewhere in the Ocean.
While the U.S. Coast Guard found everyone else, Captain Robin Walbridge has been missing for well over 24 hours!
Authorities are optimistic about finding him, however, as he’s wearing the proper survival gear which includes a bright orange vest.
Coast Guard spokesman Brandyn Hill said:
“We are actively searching and looking to find him alive.”
Crew member Claudene Christian, 42, was rescued by the Coast Guard, but she was unresponsive at that time and later declared dead.
The historic ship was featured in Marlon Brando‘s Mutiny on the Bounty and, more recently, Johnny Depp‘s Pirates of the Caribbean.
Our sincerest thoughts extend to everyone affected by this brutal and horrific storm.
Hopefully Captain Walbridge will be safely returned to his friends and family soon!
