Actor Ian Somerhalder has his own foundation for animal rights!
Ian’s foundation – appropriately named the Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF) – recently made a statement against a piece of Canadian legislation “The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.”
Ian calls the act ambiguous, out of date and repeatedly overseen by British Columbia’s Ministry of Agriculture.
The stament says:
“Dogs and cats are defined strictly as property and there is no regulation in the act addressing businesses that work with animals such as sled dog companies. This legislation is clearly in place only to protect the rights of owners with ├óΓé¼┼ôanimal property├óΓé¼┬¥, not the rights of animals.
Let├óΓé¼Γäós raise our voices loud and clear for the Whistler 100 to ensure the task force’s recommendiations are in favor of animal welfare. There’s needs to be real change to the Act and we must pull together and demand that change!”
Great Job Ian!
We hope all our Canadian readers do what they can to support Ian’s cause!
