In The Heights fans may not see a movie adaptation of the musical for some time.
On Thursday, the creators behind the Tony Award-winning musical announced that they no longer wish to work with The Weinstein Company following Harvey Weinstein‘s sexual misconduct scandal. We mean, we don’t blame them!

Quiara Alegría Hudes, who wrote the book for the Broadway hit, took to Twitter and shared:

Well said!! Lin-Manuel Miranda, who penned the lyrics for the groundbreaking musical, is standing by Hudes’ statement as he added:
As usual, Quiara does the prose best. She speaks for us both. https://t.co/7uEDe1DqJF

We had a feeling this announcement was coming as, on Tuesday, Lin said he was “repulsed by the Weinstein news.” Dude, same.
Sadly, if TWC doesn’t release ITH from its clutches, the film adaptation may not occur for awhile. Hopefully, the film studio will do the right thing and drop the project.
TBH, we doubt fans will watch the film if Lin and Quiara aren’t involved…
