Chris Nolan‘s mind-bending thriller Inception starring Leonardo DiCaprio took the top spot at the box office this weekend, raking in over $60 million!
Dan Fellman of Warner Bros. commented that Nolan is “a star for us. It’s clear there’s no kind of movie he can’t make, and make well.”
This is also proves that 2-D movies with a smart plot can still open to blockbuster numbers, which is good news for the movie industry. Imax’s Greg Foster adds, “and people see Chris’ movies more than once. We’re not moving this out of theaters anytime soon.”
And as for Leo, this is officially his best debut ever. It’s already made more than 2008’s Blood Diamond!
Despicable Me came in 2nd while The Sorcerer’s Apprentice brought in a disappointing $17 million at 3rd place. Sucks for Nicolas Cage!
