Politician Resigns From His Job With A Note In Klingon!

This is definitely one way to be memorable! Ha!
David Waddell, a councilman at Indian Trail, tendered his resignation last week… In Klingon!
Don’t worry, he put the translation with it too (above)!
We’re sure Mayor Michael Alvarez got a kick out of the letter when he read it, mostly because it was an inside joke!
The Charlotte Observer reported that Waddell explained ‘Klingon’ is “the language of a proud warrior race” in Star Trek, and that he was sure the mayor would get a laugh.
But he didn’t! Mayor Alvarez was NOT happy, and said:

“It’s an embarrassment for Indian Trail, and it’s an embarrassment for North Carolina.”

It’s silly, but it’s not THAT embarrassing! The guy was just having a little fun, right?!
Well, it turns out that Alvarez and Waddell might not have been that close anyway. The Klingon-lover was only in his first term as councilman, and was resigning because he felt he’d make more of a difference as a citizen at meetings.
So, if you voted Waddell, don’t worry! He’s still working for you… and for the universe!
