Our hearts are broken.
On Wednesday, influencer Nara Smith, who you may have seen on your FYP balancing young motherhood and crafting elaborate dishes “from scratch,” revealed that her daughter Whimsy Lou is currently battling cancer at just 2 years old.
In a video explaining how she and husband Lucky Blue Smith made the discovery, Nara explained that “late last year” they noticed something “suspicious” on the toddler, so they took her to the ER. There, they didn’t receive any solid answers, so they took her to her pediatrician — and Nara’s motherly instinct kicked in:
“I just remember him going really quiet and calm, and my heart dropped in that moment. I don’t know whether it was my gut telling me something, or just a mom’s intuition, but the first thing that I felt was she has cancer.”
What an unimaginable feeling. She continued:
“[The pediatrician] told us to take her to the closest children’s hospital and have them evaluate her further … after a lot of x-rays, ultrasounds, and finally a biopsy, they immediately called us and said that she had cancer. [They] told us it had spread and that she needs to come and start chemo treatments immediately.”
How completely awful.

Nara didn’t offer an update on how little Whimsy is doing, or what type of cancer she’s battling, but noted what a struggle it’s been balancing being with her at the hospital while trying to juggle being a mom to her other children including Rumble Honey, 5, Slim Easy, 4, and Fawnie Golden, 9 months, and also trying to work.
Nara revealed she wanted to share this devastating information in hopes of bringing someone else who may be going through something similar comfort, or to “incentivise you to go get something checked out that you’ve been avoiding.” You can watch her full video announcement (below):
Our hearts are truly shattered for the Smith family. We can’t even begin to process the emotions they must be going through. We’re sending so much healing energy Whimsy Lou’s way.
