This sounds an awful lot like size discrimination to us!
19-year-old Samm Newman says her Instagram account got shut down after she posted those pics above because she had “violated community guidelines”!
Wait. Really??
Are Samm’s Instas sort of scandalous? Sure. But it’s not like we haven’t seen our fair share of other ladies in nothing but their bra and panties! And they’re still posting pics no problemo!
So why did Samm’s pics set off such a fuss on Instagram??
She says it’s because she’s overweight!
Samm explained why she was so upset to get booted off, saying:
“My Instagram, it was my safe place because when I was there, I could share anything. I didn’t find the bra at all inappropriate. Fat is not a bad word. How confident can you be if you keep censoring yourself because people don’t want to look at you?”
Instagram has since restored Samm’s account and apologized for mistakenly deleting her pics.
A spokesperson for the social media site admitted:
“When our team processes reports from other members of the Instagram community, we occasionally make a mistake. We apologize for any inconvenience.├óΓé¼┬¥
We’re glad this double standard has been corrected but Instagram SERIOUSLY needs to be careful that this doesn’t happen again!
