What a wonderful development.
On Thursday, it was revealed that the International Basketball Federation, also known as FIBA, has changed its stance on the issue about players wearing hijabs during games. While the religious headdress was previously banned on safety grounds, the organization has since reviewed its policy after first making exceptions for players back in 2014.

Well, after the governing body met at its congress in Hong Kong, FIBA agreed to a new rule which allows athletes to wear headgear, as long as there is no risk of injury and it matches a team’s uniform colors. AH-Mazing!
FIBA addressed the rule change in a statement on their website:
“The new rule comes as a result of the fact that traditional dress codes in some countries — which called for the head and/or entire body being covered — were incompatible with FIBA’s previous headgear rule.”
