Oh no! This is awful!
Two Iranian soccer players are facing a prison sentence and a public 74-strike lashing for using “inappropriate” behavior to celebrate a goal during a nationally televised game on Saturday.
What dastardly deed did these two commit? A congratulatory pat on the butt!
Yes! That thing we see football and baseball players do ALL THE TIME here in America, is considered a SEVERELY punishable offense in Iran!
Mohammad Nosrati and his Persepolis teammate Sheys Rezaei have already been suspended and fined approximately $40,000 each for celebrating a goal that ended the team’s losing streak.
Ugh! We feel so bad for these two guys and can only pray that the government does not follow through with such a deplorable punishment for such an innocent “crime”.
America may not be perfect, but it’s times like these that remind us how lucky we are to live where we live!
