Gone way, WAY too soon.
Davide Astori, the captain of the Florentina soccer team, was found dead in his hotel room on Sunday morning, just hours before his team was to play an Italian league match at Udinese.
He was just 31 years old.

Nobody yet knows exactly what caused the previously healthy Astori’s death, but officials locally in Italy suspect cardiac arrest in the young soccer star.
His body has already ben taken to a local hospital for an autopsy.
Udine prosecutor Antonio De Nicolo spoke to the media about the death, relaying official suspicions of what may have caused it (below):

“The belief is that the player died of a cardiac arrest by natural causes. It is strange that such a thing should happen to a professional who is so closely monitored without there being any warning signs.”

Ugh. Such a terrible, terrible tragedy for somebody so young.
The team itself, which said Astori was “hit by a sudden illness” was reeling after the death was revealed; the 31-year-old leaves behind a wife, and a two-year-old daughter.
So horribly sad.
