Ivanka Trump‘s clothing brand has been secretly relabeled as Adrienne Vittadini (a pre-existing womenswear line) by G-III, the company that licenses her products! Weird!

The relabeled products were then sold to discount retailer Stein Mart, which means there are basically people out there wearing Ivanka’s clothes without their knowledge! How freaking awkward. Especially if they happen to hate Trump and his ilk with a passion.
G-III has, surprisingly, actually acknowledged what it did, and issued an apology:
“G-III accepts responsibility for resolving this issue, which occurred without the knowledge or consent of the Ivanka Trump organisation. G-III has already begun to take corrective actions, including facilitating the immediate removal of any mistakenly labelled merchandise from its customer. The Ivanka Trump brand continues to grow and remains very strong.”
The reason for this may be because the First Daughter’s merch has been met with some negative reactions recently. Nordstrom famously discontinued Ivanka’s products because of weak sales, prompting Donny to tweet an admonishment at them.
Moreover, according to a Stein Mart source, Ivanka Trump-branded apparel has been the recipient of some serious backlash at their own stores. One customer even reportedly spit on a blouse in front of a store employee! Cray!!!
On the other hand, it’s possible G-III was trying to protect the label from association with a discount retailer, as it could be seen as tarnishing the brand somewhat. G-III also reported that net sales of the brand increased by $17.9 million in 2016.
Furthermore, Stein Mart’s chief executive D. Hunt Hawkins insisted that relabeling Ivanka’s products was not politically-motivated:
“We’ve had both labels for a while. We may see more Adrienne Vittadini in the short term. I’ve had an equal number of [customers] say that they don’t want and do want [the Ivanka Trump merchandise] in the store. If we get it, we get.”
Guess everything is just fine in Ivanka World!
But if you’ve bought Adrienne Vittadini from Stein Mart recently, you might wanna return that shit.
