Jack Antonoff isn’t ready to let go of Margaret Qualley.
As we reported, last week, the actress and songwriter revealed that they’ve parted ways. It came directly after Margaret scrubbed her Instagram of her husband, leading fans to fear the worst — and it was actually true! After three years of marriage, they’ve decided to split.
Jack has been seen around wearing his wedding band, which gave us a hint that maybe he’s not quite ready to give up on his relationship. And now a source for Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack on Sunday is saying the same thing. They said Jack did everything he could to save the marriage:
“Jack fought hard for this relationship. He begged Margaret to give him another chance because he genuinely believed they could save the marriage. He wasn’t ready to let her go.”
Ouch.
Another source revealed it wasn’t just a simple split, either. They said the relationship was fully “exhausted” by the point of the breakup:
“This wasn’t one explosive argument. Communication kept breaking down, and Margaret reached a point where she needed space. By then, she felt emotionally exhausted.”

Of course, we reported Margaret was the one who broke up with Jack — which this insider said has been a long time coming:
“Jack was devastated when he realized Margaret was pulling away. He kept asking her not to give up on them because he truly believed they could work through anything.”
And as for what happened? Well, this source suggests Jack might’ve been a little too overbearing:
“Jack likes things done his way. Margaret increasingly felt her voice wasn’t being heard, and eventually she decided she couldn’t keep living like that.”
Oh no… Yeah, one-sided relationships are never something that works!
Even with ALL this, though, the insider suggests there’s a chance they can still make it work! They said:
“There’s still real love between them. No one is saying this marriage can’t be saved — but right now, they both need time apart to figure out what comes next.”
It would definitely take some big changes. Difficult, but not impossible.
