This is so heartbreaking.
Following the death of Fresh Prince of Bel Air star James Avery on Wednesday, those who worked closely to him took to their social media accounts to send their condolences to Uncle Phil and his family.
Alfonso Ribeiro who starred alongside James as his son, Carlton Banks, in Fresh Prince of Bel Air expressed his sadness on Twitter.
The actor said:
I'm deeply saddened to say that James Avery has passed away. He was a second father to me. I will miss him greatly. pic.twitter.com/UrW0EeBFbO

Uncle Phil was like a TV father figure to everyone who watched Fresh Prince religiously!
Jada Pinkett Smith followed suit and sent her condolences on Facebook, she said:
Happy New Year everyone! I was hoping to start the new year differently but we have lost yet another friend. James Avery who we all lovingly know as Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince has passed.
Our condolences to aunt Florence (his mother), Miss Barbara (his wife) and all those who loved him.
Rest in peace James.

No one ever wants to start off a new year with a death, but unfortunately life happens.
We wonder if Will Smith will say some words for the man who portrayed a father figure in his life.
