But that didn’t make Jada Pinkett Smith any less heartbroken when Jaden Smith asked her to be legally emancipated at just 15 years old.
The Girls Trip actress opened up about that brief yet devastating chapter on her Facebook show Red Table Talk alongside her now 19-year-old son.

While Jaden ended up not going through with emancipation — because, you know, he didn’t want to miss out on all that free food in his house — Jada said she understood it was “time” her son freed himself from the “bubble” he grew up in.
