The My Name Is Earl star dove into some dangerous parenting waters this week when she posted an Instagram pic with her eldest son, Dezi (above).

It’s a beautiful photo of a bonding moment between mother and son, so what’s the problem? The caption.
Jaime wrote:
“Best time ever hangin with my favorite son, Dezi. That’s right I said it. I have a favorite son although I luv all 3 of my boys with everything I have in me. Dez and I have a special bond that no one else will ever match because we’ve grown up together. #firstborn #iloveyou”
Whoa! Whut?? You can’t pick favorites, every parent knows that!
Or at least, you can’t say it out loud…
Besides the 12-year-old, Jaime also has a pair of twins named Leo and Lenon. Thankfully they’re only one year old and likely aren’t allowed on Instagram. Or they only follow Kylie.
However, the fact she’s put this out in the world at all seems totally offsides to a lot of people out there.
Here’s a sampling of the negative reaction from some of the actress’ followers:
“My mom had a favorite and she never said but I always knew. Glad she didn’t say it.”
“I feel so sorry for your other boys… I can’t imagine how this must make them feel. This is heartbreaking. ?”
“This is ridiculous. Literally any therapist would tell you how damaging this is to your other children. I’m sure you’re a great mom but this was not a cool thing to put out there… forever.”
“I hope your son stole your phone and posted this ?”
“I really truly hope that this is not how you really feel. If so, why use social media to make your orher children feel bad. Please tell me this is a joke. Signed, 1 of 6. Not the favorite?”
“Not everything you think needs to be said out loud . This is one of those things. ?”
Wow. Strong stuff.
However, a striking amount of parents supported the move:
“I don’t believe any mom that say they don’t have a favorite. I love my kids the same, but my littlest red is my fave, we are so much alike and we have a special bond.”
“My first born will always be my favorite ? I can’t help it just is .”
“Everyone loves their first born the best. It’s like the universal parenting secret”
“❤️ @jaimepressly because she is so gutsy! She says how she’s feeling and you deal with it! As a mother of four, 2 boys & 2 girls, I too have a favorite & Im not afraid to say it either & You know who you are”
Hmm. Can’t help but notice that last one did not say it, so… Huh.
