Hip hip hoor-Eywa! This is one Pandora we won’t hit skip on!
Avatar is officially getting another sequel, which puts the count at a total of 4 movies total in the series! This is one Pandora we won’t hit skip on!
It was just announced that 20th Century Fox and James Cameron have set the release dates for Avatar 2, 3, and 4, for December of 2016, 2017, and 2018, respectively.
By then, James will probably have created the actual Avatar technology, allowing you to enter the bodies of the characters of the movie, and movie tickets will cost $219.
The creator of Terminator: The Sarah Chronicles, Josh Friedman, has been tapped to pen one of the sequels, as well the writers for Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, and Shane Salerno, who collaborated with James on Fantastic Voyage.
On the subject of adding another Avatar film, James had this to say:
├óΓé¼┼ôBuilding upon the world we created with Avatar has been a rare and incredibly rewarding experience. In writing the new films, I├óΓé¼Γäóve come to realize that Avatar world, story and characters have become even richer than I anticipated, and it became apparent that two films would not be enough to capture everything I wanted to put on screen. And to help me continue to expand this universe, I├óΓé¼Γäóm pleased to bring aboard Amanda, Rick, Shane and Josh, all writers I├óΓé¼Γäóve long admired, to join me in completing the films screenplays.”
When it comes to Avatar, the more, the merrier! And 2016 isn’t so far away! Hopefully by then Earth won’t be filled with poisonous gasses like on Pandora!
