James Cameron is one smart man. He knew Avatar was going to become a mega blockbuster hit so he made a directing deal that gave him a huge chunk of “first dollar” gross as well as DVD and Blu-ray sales.
Since the film made $2.7 billion worldwide and the “DVD did beyond expectation,” the writer, director, producer is now rolling in the benjamins, reportedly receiving $350 million from the film’s franchise.
This will be the biggest paycheck any director has ever received from a single film.
And he’s not done yet! He’s currently working on a sequel to Avatar as well as releasing a “Special Edition” version of the film on August 27.
Sure, why not milk that cash cow for all its worth?? James Cameron is indeed the king of the world!
