Anyone remember this required reading in high school — trouble with mice is you always kill ’em??
John Steinbeck‘s literary classic, Of Mice And Men is apparently heading back to Broadway for a revival beginning in March—and according to the New York Times, the important role of George Milton will be played by Spring Breakers star James Franco!
It’s going to be totes exciting to see the artsy actor take on a more serious stage role AND make his Broadway debut!
Though no one has signed on to play the iconic, Lennie Small, Bridesmaids‘ Chris O’Dowd seems to be the front runner—which would mean if cast, he’d be making his first foray into The Great White Way as well!
The story centers around the mentally limited Lennie Small and big dreaming George Milton, two migrant ranch workers during the Great Depression in California.
Lennie is fascinated by stroking soft things, which leads to death, rape accusations, and an ultimate end for the character!
The original Broadway production premiered in 1937 and was revived in 1974!
Hopefully we’ll have casting confirmations soon! So exciting!
