Well, guess we WON’T be seeing James Franco reprise his role as Alien in the Spring Breakers sequel!
The reason being that the follow up to the first Spring Breakers is not being done by Harmony Korine, the director of the first flick! James is super pissed that someone is taking Harmony’s creation just to make a quick buck!
The Palo Alto actor went on a bitter rant, letting everyone know he wasn’t happy about the revival on Instagram.
James wrote:
STATEMENT ABOUT SPRING BREAKERS 2: This is not being done with Harmony Korine or my consent. The original was wholly Harmony’s creation and these producers are capitalizing on that innovative film to make money on a weak sequel. I want everyone to know that whoever is involved in the sequel is jumping on board a poison ship. It will be a terrible film, with a horrible reason d’├â┬¬tre: to make money off someone else’s creativity. Can you imagine someone making the sequel to Taxi Driver without [Martin] Scorcese and [Robert] DeNiro‘s consents? Insanity! I’m speaking up for Harmony and his original vision and for any creative person who cares about preserving artistic integrity.
And James certainly has spoken!
Do U think the people who are involved in the sequel will think twice about their decision now that the selfie-taking actor has made the whole world aware of his opinion??
