We didn’t think the news could get any sadder!
Turns out, when James Gandolfini died in Italy, he wasn’t alone.
The father of two brought along his teenage son Michael to the Taormina Film Festival. The two were taking a “guys’ trip,” spending some quality father-son time together.
According to the hotel’s manager, Michael was the one who found his father collapsed on the bathroom floor and called the hotel staff for help.
Hotel workers then tried to resuscitate the Sopranos star until the ambulance came and took him to the hospital.
James sadly could not be revived and was declared dead just 40 minutes after arrival. Hospital officials say an autopsy will be performed, with preliminary results on Friday.
Michael’s mother Marcy Wudarski immediately flew to Italy to be with her son following the tragic events.
How terrible. We can’t even imagine.
