We can’t even begin to imagine the weight pressing down on Arlene Holmes – the mother of ‘suspected’ Dark Knight Rises mass-murderer James Holmes – concerning her son’s horrific actions…
In Friday’s initial reports, Arlene supposedly responded to an ABC News reporter by stating:
“You have the right person├óΓé¼┬ª I need to call the police. I need to fly out to Colorado.”
However, according to a statement issued today by Holmes’ family, her words were taken out of context, and she never confirmed she knew her son to be a killer.
The statement alleges that Arlene was awakened by a phonecall in which a reporter asked if she was Arlene Holmes and if her son was James Holmes. She responded with “Yes, you have the right person.”
According San Diego attorney Lisa J. Damiani, who issued Arlene’s statement to the press, the family stands behind their son.

“This statement is to clarify a statement made by ABC media. I was awakened by a call from a reporter by ABC on July 20 about 5:45 in the morning. I did not know anything about a shooting in Aurora at that time. He asked if I was Arlene Holmes and if my son was James Holmes who lives in Aurora, Colorado. I answered yes, you have the right person. I was referring to myself.
I asked him to tell me why he was calling and he told me about a shooting in Aurora. He asked for a comment. I told him I could not comment because I did not know if the person he was talking about was my son, and I would need to find out. ”
