He wrote in the caption:

“Hey everyone just wanted to let you all know I’ve made it to my one year sober Today! Letting go of drinking was the best decision I ever made and I’m going strong. I don’t miss the booze …… I don’t miss the feeling …. I’m so grateful for everything now and life has become more beautiful in many ways. Thank you to my rock @raquelleviss for getting me here I couldn’t of done this without you my love.♥️ and thank you all for the support this past year.”

Kennedy’s girlfriend and co-star Raquel Leviss posted her own congratulatory message to IG alongside a cute snap of the couple in masks. She shared:

“Today James is 1 year sober! Lots to celebrate but most important is the love you show me every single day @itsjameskennedy ❤️”

James commented on his GF’s gram:

“I love you so so much ❤️”

Friends and fans alike also shared their congratulations for the news, with current and former co-stars expressing their support. Scheana Shay and Billie Lee were among those commenting their pride in the 28-year-old.

Kennedy had previously announced he was nine months sober during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in March. After host Andy Cohen shared a clip from the show of Kennedy and Leviss fighting over his drinking, he explained:

“I think because of all the drinking I was doing and stuff, I was really hiding away from my true emotions. And just blaming whatever I wanted to get out the easy way, do you know what I mean? … I have gone to AA meetings and stuff since then. I’ve really taken hold of my life and trying to change it for the better and change our relationship for the better.”

James isn’t the only celeb enjoying sober life lately — Miley Cyrus has also recently spoken up about her sober journey. The popstar described her “love” for the lifestyle choice, but acknowledged that it’s sometimes difficult because of “that stigma of ‘you’re no fun.'” Actually, in our book it seems more like all the cool kids are sober these days!

We commend James on the amazing accomplishment!
