NY Police Will Open A Criminal Investigation Into Bullying Following Jamey Rodemeyer's Suicide

Good. Someone needs to be held accountable for this. A beautiful boy has left this world for no other reason than the ignorance of others. It must be stopped.

The Amherst Police Department’s Special Victims Unit announced Thursday that they will be opening a criminal investigation into the suicide of 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer. Jamey was bullied online and at school for over a year and his torment ultimately led him to take his own life.

The SVU cops released a statement revealing they will be looking into pressing charges against Jamey’s fellow students, including charges of harassment, cyber-harassment or hate crimes.

Bringing these kids to justice won’t being Jamey back, but maybe it will send a message to other bullies in the world that there are consequences to the use of hateful words. That is, if the death of this poor boy wasn’t motivation enough to stop the tormenting.

Bullying is violence. Let’s bring it to an end.
