Lilo probably didn’t know it at the time, but her co-star in Freaky Friday, Jamie Lee Curtis, is a stellar role model for someone struggling with a drug addiction.
Jamie Lee once suffered from an addiction to pain killers and alcohol, but has since overcome her vices.
“My recovery is the single greatest accomplishment of my life. And without that, the rest of my life would have fallen apart.”
Curtis was realistic about the process of recovery and implied that some people are able to do it and move on with their lives, while others struggle.
“Some people get it. Robert Downey Jr. was in prison for a year. And he is not only the greatest movie star in the world, he’s a fantastic representative of someone who can repair the damage of their life. Recovery is an acceptance that your life is in a shambles and you have to change it. I was lucky, I didn’t have to lose anything,”
Curtis has been sober for over 10 years, and says that “recovery and motherhood” are the most important parts in her life.
Jamie Lee is an inspiration, and we hope Lindsay follows the path of her former co-star!
