Jamie Sanders has Tourette’s and he wants everyone to know.
But he didn’t always feel that way.
A few weeks ago, the proud young poet posted a video of his recent performance piece called This Time. In it, he shares his struggles growing up with the physical disorder and how he used to try and keep his affliction a secret from his schoolmates.
Not anymore.
After years of being picked on in class or physically abused by bullies, Jamie now knows that his ticks are a part of him that he doesn’t want to change. He accepts himself for who he is. And if you can’t… well, then that’s your problem, not his.
The video below is only two and half minutes long but by the end of Jamie’s rhythmic rant of self-empowerment and intrepidity, we can guarantee you’ll think before you whisper something about someone ever again.
