Sunday night’s Emmy Awards contained several touching tributes to fallen stars, perhaps none quite so heartbreaking as Jane Lynch‘s honest speech about her late Glee costar Cory Monteith.
But not everyone thought the honor should even fall on Cory. Jack Klugman‘s son Adam was affronted that his father was passed over for the young star.
So what does Jane herself have to say to that? She said:
“I’m a huge fan of Jack Klugman… he was there in the beginning of television and he had a terrific career… if I were his son maybe I’d be upset too.”
A classy, empathetic answer. But whether Mr. Klugman deserved a special moment also, Jane was just glad she was able to honor her friend. She said:
“I’m really proud to be up there for him. I’m really proud to tell people about him.”
And we were moved to listen. Thanks to Jane for her frank, thoughtful words.
