Instead Japanese scientists have created mice that tweet or “sing” like birds!
Researchers at the University of Osaka are cross-breeding genetically modified mice to explore evolutionary traits for their “Evolved Mouse Project”.
When they discovered one mouse “singing like a bird”, they realized they could pass the trait onto future generations of mice and now they have over 100 mice that sound like birds!

By studying these “singing mice”, scientists hope to get a better understanding of the evolution of human language, while researchers also study the gene mutations in other mice to better understand Parkinson’s disease, Depression, Autism, and many other conditions.
