Jason Segel has just signed on to star opposite Jonah Hill and Jason Schwartzman in The Adventurer’s Handbook.
The flick will be directed by Akiva Schaffer for Universal.
As for the screenplay, it was penned by Hill, Matt Spicer and Max Winkler, yes, Henry’s son, and deals with four childhood buddies who, bored from their bland adulthood, decide to go on a journey around the world inspired by the tales in Mick Conefrey‘s book, The Adventurer’s Handbook: Life Lessons From History’s Great Explorers.
Segel will play a washed up musician who wasted his youth, and ended up a back-up pianist and alcoholic.  Schwartzman will play a pain in the ass Grammy winner and Hill will play an engineer who no longer feels close to his family.
We already know Hill and Segel work well together, and we think Schwartzman would fit in nicely.
Universal hopes the flick will be in production early 2010.
We hope it doesn’t suck.
