Just what in HOVA’s name is happening here?!
We’re hearing conflicting reports, but there’s a decent chance Jay Z dropped the hyphen from his name in 2010!
Whether the difference between Jay-Z and Jay Z is significant is up for debate, but how could the world’s BIGGEST rapper change his name three years ago without anyone noticing?!

Yesterday, Billboard editor Joe Levy tweeted:
Breaking: Jay Z has dropped the hyphen from his name, according to his label. I am not kidding. (Wish I was.) Copy editors: take note.

Whoa, was that true!?
Unfortunately, Jay… whatever’s Magna Carta Holy Grail album cover doesn’t clear up the confusion because there is a hyphen through the whole damned thing!
Blue Ivy‘s daddy’s publicist Jana Fleishman was reached for comment, and that’s when our minds blew!!!!
She said:
“Dude..We haven’t used the hyphen since 2010.”
Wow. Sure enough, according to iTunes, his credit on Watch the Throne contains no hyphen!
We’re sure his driver’s license still reads Shawn Carter, but we really wish Jay(?)Z would clear up all the confusion!
Maybe he should take a page from Eminem‘s playbook and write a song called My Name Is and just TELL US what he wants to go by!
