Very inneresting.
Students from five different high schools in Colorado are protesting their district’s decision to alter the AP U.S. History curriculum as of yesterday.
Apparently, the Jefferson County school board wants to censor some aspects of our country’s history by completely erasing them from textbooks.
After 50 teachers throughout the county skipped work one day, the students from five different high schools; Arvada West, Golden, Pomona, Ralston Valley, and Wheat Ridge, followed suit.
While some students are probably joining the cause just to get out of school for a little while, it seems as though many more of their peers are taking their education seriously.
The protests mostly took place along the streets surrounding the schools, but a larger Facebook campaign is in place to organize more effective activism.
We’re glad so many of these students AND teachers are utilizing their first amendment right to peaceably assemble and stand up for what they believe in.
Because as the old adage goes, those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it!
