Jennie Garth Reveals She Suffered Two Consecutive Miscarriages Right After Marrying Dave Abrams

Oof. Jennie Garth and Dave Abrams faced a lot of struggles while trying to have a child together.

On Wednesday’s episode of her podcast I Choose Me With Jennie Garth, the actress and her hubby sat down to open up about their pregnancy challenges that almost led to a divorce! The couple married in July 2015, and later that month they found out they were first expecting. Amazing, right?!

Jennie shared:

“We got pregnant naturally.”

And then Dave noted:

“We went to a little mini honeymoon to Carmel up in Monterey. And like two weeks later, you were pregnant.”

That’s the dream, right? Well, it started out as one… but sadly, it soon took a turn for the worse. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum admitted that she “blocked out” most of the memory after that. So, Dave continued for her:

“We went to Nancy, your doctor, the gynecologist, and yeah, we were good to go. And then that lasted almost four months. And then, you know, we found out … that there was no heartbeat.”

Oh, no…

The 52-year-old then underwent a dilation and curettage (DNC) procedure, in which tissue is removed from inside the uterus to clear the uterine lining after a miscarriage or abortion. She recalled:

“I remember them saying we could just wait and let it work its way. And we opted to do the procedure because it was just too much for me to carry a baby that had been terminated.”

Heartbreakingly, this experience made the couple feel like they weren’t meant to have kids together — until they got pregnant again. The 43-year-old actor chimed in:

“But then it happened again.”

Unfortunately, this pregnancy only lasted about a month and a half, though. He said:

“I think the doctor at the time was like, ‘Well, it’s not going to be healthy anyway.’ So then we did the DNC again.”

Ugh!

As you can imagine, these consecutive losses were really hard on the pair. Dave expressed:

“And then by that time, I think it had definitely taken an emotional toll which we didn’t know how to communicate. So we kind of just wrapped it up and then other things kind of came in the fold.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Jennie said she felt “ashamed” that she couldn’t carry a child with her husband. However, she praised him for being such “a wonderful stepdad” to her three daughters with ex-husband Peter Facinelli. They share kids Luca Bella, 27, Lola Ray, 21, and Fiona Eve, 18.

BTW, last month, the A Time To Dance star told SELF Magazine that the couple also dealt with a failed IVF attempt which led to a brief split. She explained:

“[We] were trying to have a baby, and it kept failing. And that was really, really hard on both of us individually and on our relationship. When we decided to let go of that possibility, it freed us up to love each other in a different way.”

The husband and wife broke up for ten months back in November 2017 after the treatments failed, leading Dave to file for divorce in April 2018. Thankfully, though, they dismissed the case in February 2019, and now they are obviously still together. Knowing they also dealt with two miscarriages before this, no wonder they went through such a hard time! This is a lot for anyone to handle. Sending love and light!
