Thank goodness, because we don’t think we can see any other young actress out there portray our girl Katniss!
Even with all the hubub over the impending release of the Hunger Games movie, pre-production prep for Catching Fire, the second installment in the epic trilogy, is already in motion.
While Jennifer Lawrence has repeatedly said she loves playing the character of Katniss, she’s not quite ready to dish about her feelings on playing her in Catching Fire:
“It’s kind of like when we’re there, let’s talk about it. But until then I’m sick of hearing about myself as Katniss…and also we’ve been focusing on getting this one out so much that we haven’t really had time to talk about the second one. I’m sure they’ve had time.”
The versatile star does allow us some indulgences into the second film:
“I think one and three are my favorites [in the franchise]…But Catching Fire, I’m looking forward to shooting ’cause it kind of becomes more of a war movie.”
And while some actors might be hesistant about taking on a Harry Potter or Twilight type franchise role (those characters do tend to stick!), Jennifer Lawrence sees it as an opportunity to fully realize the character of Katniss – of growing her interpretation of the character as Katness herself grows within the story.
The actress says:
“That was definitely something to take into consideration. But then I was like, I’m an actor so I would be doing a film, at least a movie a year anyway…And then the opportunity to play a character that you love and something you’re really passionate about, that happens rarely, if at all, in somebody’s life. So now it’s a blessing ’cause I got to play this character that I love this year and then whatever I didn’t like, I can fix next year.”
Yay!! We are so happy the full trilogy will be released on the big screen. Hmm…we wonder what the next fantasy franchise will be??
