It seems pretty automatic to us at this point that even if you never planned on your movie making a sequel, if it hits $200 million world-wide, a sequel is going to happen… no matter what! LOLz!
That looks to be the case with Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, which wasn’t the most critically acclaimed movie, but it also wasn’t the most offensively terrible. That, folks, is a recipe for a follow up! Ha!
Paramount has now officially announced that a sequel IS in development — even though most of that $200m came from overseas, because it underperformed here in the U.S. with a boring $18m opening. They say it cost somewhere between $50m and $83m depending on who you talk to, but neither of those numbers make the $18m opening look pretty!
Here’s some trivia for your beautiful booties: did you know that Will Ferrell helped produce the first one, and is expected to return with Adam McKay for the sequel?? It’s true!
Pretty random!
In the end though, a sequel means that we get to see more Jeremy Renner (hopefully), and that’s not a bad thing!!
