Jessica Simpson is in no rush to get the legal deets settled after her split from Eric Johnson — but she IS moving on with her life.
Speaking to Us Weekly on Wednesday, an insider shared that the singer is “doing better each day” since the breakup (which she confirmed last month after lots of speculation), they explained:
“Jessica has been focusing on herself and wellbeing since the separation.”
The source added that the 44-year-old has had a “very positive attitude” after the split, even though it’s been a “painful last year.” That said, she isn’t too concerned about filing for a divorce — something neither has done yet. The source pointed out:
“There hasn’t been a lot of movement toward a divorce because they are still in the separation stage.”
There’s no rush. In fact, maybe taking their time will help them get through it with as little drama as possible, which seems to be their priority right now. The actress is currently “trying her best to keep things as amicable as possible with Eric and protecting her kids.”

But don’t think that’s an opening for a reconciliation? No, Jess is firmly moving on. In fact, she’s now taking a huge step by selling the family’s mansion, where she lived with Eric and their kids, Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5. The confidant revealed:
“She is house hunting in L.A. [and] figuring out where she will begin her new chapter with the kids.”
It’s probably difficult to leave the family home but exciting to have a fresh chapter! Addressing the natural ups and downs of a divorce — especially after a decade of marriage — the insider stressed that Jessica is “doing her best to do it all with a positive mindset” and has been “taking things one step at a time.” Good!
In the meantime, she’s got her music to distract her! The source said she’s been “working on new projects and embracing this period of change.” A second insider added that she is “anxious and excited to release [her new album] to the world,” teasing:
“Her [new] album is coming very soon.”
They promised it’ll be “very emotional” and a “chance for her to tell more of her story, her struggles and the personal journey she has been going through.” They expressed:
“The music is totally different from her pop classics, and she is excited for fans to hear it.”
There’s nothing as cathartic as a breakup album! We’re excited to listen and hope her divorce continues to be as amicable as possible!
