Famed fitness expert Jillian Michaels is covering the November issue of Prevention and has A LOT to talk about!
Since leaving The Biggest Loser, her life has completely changed! Not only is she adopting a baby, but she’s showing a much softer side of her peronality on daytime television as the “voice of prevention” on The Doctors.
Compared to her tough love personality on Loser, she says her role on The Doctors offers “a natural, lifestyle approach to solving problems.”
Her portrayal or “caricature” on the hit NBC reality show is part of the reason she had to leave, explaining:
“One of the problems with Loser is that it doesn├óΓé¼Γäót give the audience the 360 view of what├óΓé¼Γäós going on. It doesn├óΓé¼Γäót show the deeper conversations or the interview where you explain why you did this or that, because they don├óΓé¼Γäót think it makes good TV…People have a hard time understanding that that job is a very special one that requires a specific skill set. And I think I did it very well. But now people underestimate my soft side. That├óΓé¼Γäós a big reason why I needed to leave the show.”
She’s also in the process of preparing to take on a new role — motherhood!
Following in the footsteps of other celebs like Angelina Jolie and Madonna, Jillian is trying to adopt internationally. However, she admits it is no easy task, saying:
“I honestly don├óΓé¼Γäót know how somebody without money and help could ever get this done. It├óΓé¼Γäós a full-time job… I regret saying this now, but I think for anyone pursuing this [I├óΓé¼Γäód advise them] to explore foster care in this country. In the US, you get your referral, you bring the kid home. They├óΓé¼Γäóre already American citizens. I don├óΓé¼Γäót want to tell people to adopt internationally ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ but I├óΓé¼Γäóve learned that you├óΓé¼Γäóve got to have tremendous patience and financial resources because it├óΓé¼Γäós going to cost a lot of money. If you don├óΓé¼Γäót have those two things, go domestic.”
We can only imagine how difficult it is! All the more reason that child is one lucky boy or girl to have such a patient and loving mother willing to go through it all for them!
