John Edwards is a real class act. While he was busy calling his mistress Rielle Hunter a slut, she thought they were “madly in love!”
More and more details keep emerging as the testimony continues at the politician’s trial and none of them are very pretty.
Most recently, campaign aide John Davis took the stand. He revealed that Edwards maintained a relationship with Hunter even after Mrs. Edwards became suspicious of the woman and had her fired from her videographer position.
On February 5 of 2007, Davis was surprised to find Hunter near his boss’ Detroit hotel room and said this in court:
“I would have preferred not to have seen her├óΓé¼┬ª I was concerned why she was there├óΓé¼┬ª I was suspicious they had maintained a relationship.├óΓé¼┬¥
He went back to this room and just had to share the hot gossip with his wife. While he was on the phone with her, there was a knock at the door and he opened it to find the woman in question. Any suspicions he had about his boss’ affair were immediately confirmed, as he explained:
“She told me she and John Edwards were madly in love and he (Edwards) was concerned that I had seen her. I told her it was not my business… and I asked her to leave.”
Before leaving the Michigan city, Edwards called Davis into a private meeting. He proceeded to deny the affair, but called Mz. Hunter “crazy,” as the aide continued in court:
“He asked if I had run in to Miss Hunter. He (Edwards) told me she came to his room and told him she was going to go on Inside Edition or Access Hollywood to talk about her work for him. He told me she was crazy and to make sure she didn’t contact him.”
As if all this wasn’t bad enough for the former presidential candidate’s defense, Davis said he even overheard him talking to his mistress on speaker phone to “ask if she was showing yet.”
John Edwards is facing up to 30 years in prison for using campaign money to cover up the scandal and it sounds like he may very well get it.
