John Oliver is determined to save Blockbuster — by using Russell Crowe memorabilia!
During Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight, the late night host revealed that he purchased the jockstrap Crowe wore in Cinderella Man during the A-lister’s recent divorce auction. While rumors had claimed that the HBO star had purchased some items from the sale, Oliver finally confirmed the news for himself and revealed why he felt the need to buy the strap that was on Russell’s jock.

After shelling out $7,000 for the undergarment, Mr. Oliver decided he’d send the film item to one of the last remaining Blockbuster Video stores in Alaska. He also plans to send shorts and robe from the ’05 boxing film, a hood from Robin Hood, and a vest from Les Miserables.
All the Anchorage Blockbuster has to do is contact Last Week Tonight within 48 hours to claim the items! AH-Mazing.
