Biggest Loser Winner John Rhode Shares His Holiday Tips To Stay Fit

Yes, we know there will be plenty of temptations, but don’t give up on your healthy diet and fitness regimen this holiday season! John Rhode, who lost 220 pounds to win this season of The Biggest Loser, isn’t either!
He admits working out over the holidays will be tough, but he’s got a plan, explaining:

“It will be very difficult to maintain my regimen over the holidays. I plan on getting my workouts done early in the morning.”

After he gets his morning workout in, he’ll be closely monitoring what he eats, saying:

“I will be making healthy swaps for holiday meals, we’ll be serving tasty, low calorie alternatives. I am also taking advantage of The Biggest Loser meal plans to stay on track.”

“My best holiday tip is portion control,” he shared in a recent interview. “You don’t need to have seconds or thirds!”
One portion size he’ll definitely be keeping a watchful eye upon is his carbs. Like all of us, John’s constantly battling his addiction to carbohydrates, telling sources:

“I thought I had a sweet tooth, but it turns out I’ve been craving carbohydrates. My biggest temptation has been to tell myself I’m too busy to exercise.”

So true! We’re not ashamed to admit we catch ourselves using the “too busy” excuse ALL the time. With all the holiday shopping and parties that accompany this time of the year, it’s never been easier to succumb to that logic.
Just in case his old habits start to creep back into his life, John’s got a plan for that too, saying:

“If I begin to put the weight back on I will reach out to former contestants for help. I plan on always having an event that I am training for.”

Whether it’s a marathon or bikini season, giving yourself a reason to train will always provide motivation, which is the key to yielding better results.
Congrats on losing all that weight and looking great, John!
