Johnny Depp might have worn a torn hat at the MTV Movie Awards over the weekend (intentionally, we’re sure), but his views on engagement ring aesthetics far surpass his own commitment to style.
Cuz when there’s lady love on the line, specifically Amber Heard‘s, our flavorful Cap’n Jack goes above and beyond the call of duty!
Last week, we learned why he’s been seen with a female engagement ring (by typical gender definitions) on his own left hand — it was meant for her, but it’s just too big!
Not being one to waste, Depperz went ahead and made the best of it.
But now we’ve come to understand even more of the whole situation! Did you know that Johnny actually had designs on the ring he wanted to give Heard!?
Sure, it’s not extremely rare for a man to have that much input on a ring, but it is rare enough to make the fellas who do stand out!!
While recently promoting his new movie Transcendence, our talented character actor revealed more about the ring, saying:
“I made some drawings [for the engagement ring] which were maybe a bit out of proportion because I didn’t know what numbers meant in terms of diamond size. So boom! It came back and I realized that the diamond was the size of a human eye and might be a little uncomfortable to wear. If she’s walking down the street and waves, the glare could burn someone’s retina. So I got her this one from a wonderful antique jewellery person in New York. And it hasn’t left my finger since. I’ll get it fitted to her finger and she can decide which one she wants.”
Swoon.
Not only does she get to pick her favorite, she’s so loved that JOHNNY FREAKIN’ DEPP actually sat down and thought about the ring so much, he started making designs!!
If you weren’t convinced of his feelings for her before, this should satiate that!
Ugh, if only WE could catch a man that doting! We mean, we don’t care if it’s the size of Alaska — we’ll take any ring you wanna design us, Johnny!!
