Johnny Depp Talks His New Vampire Film, Dark Shadows

Watch out, Edward Cullen! If anybody can provide the Twilight vampires with competition…it’d be Johnny Depp!
As is pretty much always the case, Depp will team up with director Tim Burton on Dark Shadows, a film adaptation of the 1960s vampire soap opera, which begins shooting this February.
Depp will play 175-year-old vampire Barnabas Collins. Here’s what he’s had to say about the character:

“Tim and I have tossed the idea for Dark Shadows over the years. It was a TV program in the States in the late 60s and early 70s that I remember watching as a kid. I was obsessed with this character, Barnabas Collins, who was a vampire. I came to find out many years later that when he was a kid, Tim ran home like I did to watch that Gothic soap opera. It was a very strange thing back then. We looked at ways to go, story-wise. We’ve started to come up with something interesting.”

We’ll keep our eyes and ears open for more updates on this film.
Between this movie, The Tourist, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Johnny Depp is really on a roll lately although then again, when isn’t he?
