We were pretty suspicious last spring when a woman sued Johnny Depp because his entourage allegedly roughed her up at the Hollywood Palladium during an Iggy and the Stooges concert in December.
It’s hard to picture the actor allowing his boys to treat a lady like that, but even more suspect is the fact that she wouldn’t reveal her name and filed the case as a Jane Doe!
That is Depp’s first lucky break because the judge declared on Thursday that she must reveal her name to move forward since there were “no allegations concerning sexual activity or other sensitive or private conduct that courts have recognized as exceptional.”
Then the judge dismissed certain employment claims that the woman, now identified as Robin Eckert, made against Depp since she had “not alleged that that Depp was responsible for hiring or retaining the security guards in question.”
A claim of negligent infliction of emotional distress was also tossed after Depp proved he didn’t have any prior relationship with the woman and owed her no duty.
However, since Eckert is arguing that the actor’s actions were ├óΓé¼┼ômotivated by bias … hatred and prejudice,” Depp is still facing a claim of discriminatory practices in public accommodations as well as assault and battery.
Sounds like Depp avoided a nice chunk of charges against him. Time will tell if he can successfully doge the rest too!
