Johnny Depp Reportedly Not Coming Back For Disney's 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' Reboot

Johnny Depp Disney Pirates Of The Caribbean

Is the mouse cleaning house??
According to one of the original Pirates of the Caribbean writers, Johnny Depp is OUT of the films for good!
Speaking with DailyMailTV at a Hollywood event, Stuart Beattie confirmed Disney is planning a full reboot after the fifth installment of what was once their flagship live action franchise was a box office disappointment.
That means no more Jack Sparrow, which is a slick way for them to sidestep all the criticism over continuing to cast the accused spousal abuser.

Beattie, at least, did not seem enthused about throwing Captain Jack overboard. And he thinks for Johnny the character “will be his legacy.” He looked back on the past 15 years with pride, saying:

“Before Jack Sparrow came along, [Depp] was considered this kind of quirky, independent actor that made these really cool little Tim Burton films, but he was by no means a movie star and a lot of people thought we were crazy for casting him at the time… he wasn’t a proven commodity; you know, a big movie star. And we were making a big movie and we were putting this quirky, independent actor in the middle of it and people thought we were crazy. The fact that it worked is a miracle.”

He also echoes stories we’ve heard before, that the studio didn’t *get* what Depp was doing at all — until it became a blockbuster:

“They were certainly nervous watching the rushes everyday but when it all came together, something just clicked and it was magic and connected with audiences. I’m proud to be a part of it.”

Rumor has it the writers hoping to breathe a new pirate’s life into the series? Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, writers of Zombieland and Deadpool.
Hmm…
Are YOU happy to see Pirates get reimagined after all these years??
