On Saturday, Jon Gosselin found some time in his busy schedule of drinking, clubbing and being an all-around sleazy bastard to do something constructive and nice for a change.
He attended the “Walk Now for Autism Speaks” fundraiser in Philadelphia, hoping to inspire the tabloids to take more pictures of him his children to also volunteer.
The cause is something that he is familiar with, as he and his estranged wife Kate Gosselin, both cared for an autistic child in their youth.
Says the recently fired TLC star:
“Kate and I used to babysit an autistic child when we were first married, so I realized firsthand — albeit on a smaller scale — the work that goes into creating a safe and happy life for a child with autism. The experience had a great impact on me.”
He also remembered the dozens of volunteers that helped him and Kate in the beginning years of the sextuplets, back when they were just a couple of broke nobodies, and feels it’s important to give back now.
A rare side to Jon we haven’t seen. Or maybe he’s just doing it for the good publicity.
Considering past evidence, we’re leaning towards the latter!
