Jonathan Bailey can explain those viral red carpet pics with Scarlett Johansson…
With the release of their brand new blockbuster Jurassic World Rebirth imminent, Jonathan and Scarjo have been making their rounds to several red carpets to promote the thing. But the conversation quickly shifted last week when Jonathan unexpectedly introduced a brand new dinosaur into the mix: the smoochosaurus!

While at the red carpet premiere in London on June 17, the co-stars shocked the crowd by giving each other a big ol’ kiss ON THE LIPS while hugging! See (below):

They repeated the act during the New York red carpet premiere on Monday and have since been on the receiving end of a decent flow of backlash. You see, the Avengers actress is happily married to comedian Colin Jost. So fans quickly started to think the worst… But in case you didn’t realize, this wasn’t an attempt on Jonathan’s end to steal the SNL star’s girl… He’s gay!
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Monday, the Wicked star defended kissing the Oscar-nominated actress, who he considers a close friend:
“I believe in being able to show love in all different ways. And if you can’t kiss your friends … life’s too short not to.”
We’re sure that sort of mentality has gotten him into trouble more than once! HA! But hey, as long as Colin is cool with it, why not attract some extra attention to their film, right??
Last week, the Fellow Travelers star spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the “weight” of co-starring in such a huge blockbuster alongside Scarjo as an openly gay actor:
“There’s moments where, yes, you have to be excellent to prove that you can do it. And it’s not like I haven’t felt that. There’s the weight of history. And there’s endless brilliant people who have come before you who have changed the way that people see sexuality.”
He added:
“Any sort of sense of prejudice against sexuality is something to fight against, and what better way to do that than to go and play any kind of character. Being an out gay actor, historically, meant that you wouldn’t be able to play straight and there weren’t any gay parts to play anyway. That’s obviously changed massively.”
