JonBenét Ramsey Cold Case Heats Up As New DNA Tests Are Ordered On The Victim's Clothes -- Get The Deets!

The 20th anniversary of JonBen├â┬⌐t Ramsey‘s murder has spawned countless true crime documentaries dissecting the unsolved case, which, in turn, sparked a resurgence of public fascination — and speculation.
But now, it looks like the actual investigation will see some development as prosecutors are planning a new round of tests on key evidence in the 1996 murder.
According to the Daily Camera and 9NEWS, Boulder, Colorado police plan to conduct new DNA tests on the underwear and long johns the 6-year-old was wearing the knight she was killed.

A prior investigation by the two publications suggested that former District Attorney Mary Lacy was wrong in exonerating members of the Ramsey family in 2008 based on her interpretation of earlier DNA tests, in which she concluded that an intruder killed the girl.
Outside forensic experts have since disputed those findings, noting that the DNA was a mixture of multiple people and NOT just that of a person detailed as “Unknown Male 1.”
Phillip Danielson, a professor of molecular biology at the University of Denver, said the victim’s long johns and underwear should undergo a specific testing called Y-STR that identifies only male genetic material.
He explained to the Camera:

“I still think that the best thing they could probably do in the JonBenet case is figure how many males are on the long johns, and how many are in the underwear, ’cause that’s sort of a key point. And the way to do that is to focus on the Y chromosome and amplify that. If there’s two males there, we’ll see it. If there’s one male there, we’ll see it.”

No word on when the tests will be conducted, but the Colorado Bureau of Investigation reported they would be going online with new testing kits in early January that will test “additional areas on the DNA.”

CBI spokeswoman Susan Medina said of the testing kits known as Yfiler Plus:

“Over time, the results will be more individualizing to a specific male versus a family.”

We wonder if these new tests will bode well for JonBen├â┬⌐t’s brother Burke Ramsey, who was speculated to have killed the beauty queen by CBS‘s expert panel.
Hopefully, more light is shed on this murder soon, allowing this case to finally be closed!
