Although he confessed to the murder of Stephany Flores, Joran van der Sloot has revoked the confession.
And now he is refusing to speak to a judge about the case! He’s claiming habeas corpus, a legal action where a defendant can seek relief from unlawful detention.
Maximo Altez, van der Sloot’s lawyer, is claiming that his client’s rights and due process were violated after his recent arrest. They are hoping that it will make the confession invalid.
Joran is still claiming that he was “tricked” into confessing.
“In my blind panic I signed everything, but never knew what was written on them,” he said.
We hope van der Sloot gets what’s coming to him.
