Jose Canseco backed out of a celebrity boxing match this weekend, pissing off pretty much everyone involved.
Canseco says that he didn’t show for the match because he hadn’t been paid the $5,000 he was promised upfront.
The event’s promoter Damon Feldman thinks differently.
Said Feldman:
“Jose Canseco got paid in advance. He wouldn’t come out of dressing room and then we found out it wasn’t him! It was his twin, Ozzie. This is a low blow what he did. The guy was paid and he sent his brother instead! I’m just totally disgusted!!”
Canseco fired back on twitter:
Be very careful with Damon Feldman who runs celebrity boxing he will not pay you if you fight for him.
Jose says that he has had bad experiences with not getting paid for matches in the past, so he’s trying to avoid that happening again.
