Jodie Turner-Smith is opening up about how she and her ex have dealt with their divorce while raising their daughter.
As you know, back in 2023, Jodie and her ex-husband Joshua Jackson officially split up. They filed for divorce that same year and finalized it in 2025. Their daughter Juno was just three years old at the time of their breakup, and now that she’s six, the parents have had to navigate a world where she’s getting more curious.
During Monday’s episode of Hoda Kotb‘s Joy 101 podcast, the actress opened up about how she and Joshua are explaining things to their daughter:
“I’m a child of divorce, myself, and so is my ex-husband. It’s always been important to think about what is the language around which we are going to talk about this with our daughter because this is her new reality.”

She continued:
“We’re learning as well and not always getting it totally right, but the idea is always two homes filled with love. I’m like, ‘You got two houses, girl.'”
Making sure your child knows they’re loved no matter what is always SO important!
As for what’s the most “difficult” for Jodie to navigate, she said:
“You got to walk this line between, obviously, being age-appropriate and child-centered in the way that you talk about it. But also keeping it real, so that she has an understanding of what this means.”
The Agency star said her go-to for this type of conversation is books, too! She explained:
“I read her so many books about divorce, about what that means. About what that new world is, about what is supposed to be happening, what’s not supposed to be happening. Children’s books have been helpful as well.”
Jodie and Joshua’s custody battle is still ongoing, but we’re glad to hear they’re able to navigate all this in a way that keeps their daughter their main priority.
