Not surprised. You don’t cross Bono.
Sources say that a big part of Julie Taymor taking her leave as director of Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark had to do with her dimished professional relationship with Bono and The Edge, who wrote the score. Apparently, the duo weren’t so pleased when she brought in a new music director to “tune” up their music. Therefore, when Julie needed someone in her corner to help her fight for her right to stay onboard, Bono was nowhere to be found. An insider explains:
“If Bono had wanted Taymor to stay, she’d still be here. He’s a huge part of the decision making that goes on.”
As he should be. She should have known better than to bite the hand that feeds you creates the only aspect of the show that seems to be working.
With Julie out of the way, rumor has it that Bono might actually take over the directing duties for the show, though when reached for comment, his people wouldn’t confirm the news.
Eh, stick to what you know, we say. Sure, it would be great if he directed, but this show is in a massive hole right now and we don’t think he has enough skill as a director to get it out of it.
